General Information
- Classification - 10th edition
- Search - Possible for word and device marks
- Examination - Formality, substantive and relative grounds
- Opposition Period - 2 months or 60 days from publication date
- Extension of Time - Not possible for filing oppositions, counter oppositions, and responding to office actions
- Term of Protection - 10 years from filing date
- Use - Exposed to cancellation actions by interested parties if there is no actual or effective use of the mark for a period of 5 consecutive years

- In case of claiming priority, home or foreign application of the trade/service mark duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Renewal
- A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Assignment
- A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- A Deed of Assignment form both parties duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- An Extract from the Commercial Register or an Article of Incorporation, duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Merger
- A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- A Merger Certificate duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Change of Name or Address
- A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- A certified copy of the change of Name / Address Certificate.
Mortage and Licensing
- A Power of Attorney duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- A Mortgage or a License Agreement duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Article of Incorporation duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Patents
General Information
- Search - Patent applications and patents may be searched by title, patentee name, priority/PCT number, application number, subject matter
- Examination - As to form, novelty, inventiveness, industrial applicability, unity and compliance
- Publication - Patents are published in the Official Gazette after acceptance
- Opposition Period - 60 days from publication
- Annuities - Paid annually on the anniversary of the international filing date and payable before grant. A grace period of 12 months is allowed for late payment annuities with an extra charge
- Term of Protection - 20 years from the international filing date

Industrial designs
General Information
- Term of protection - 10 years from filing date
- Examination - Formality and novelty
- Application with multiple figures - Acceptable for up to 50 figures
- Renewal - Protection can be renewed for a further period of five years when owner applies for a renewal
- Within the last year of the protection period. A grace period of 3 months is also allowed.
Filing Requirements
- Power of attorney legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certified copy of the extract from the commercial register or certificate of incorporation legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Four copies of the drawing of the design.
- Brief description of the design.
- Certified copy of the priority document if claimed.
Assignment
- Power of attorney from assignee dulylegalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Deed of assignment document signed by both parties duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certified copy of the extract from the commercial register or certificate of incorporation duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
Merger
- Power of attorney signed and sealed by both parties, duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Merger agreement document duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certified copy of the extract from the commercial register or certificate of incorporation duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
License
- Power of attorney signed and sealed duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate for each party.
- License agreement document duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certified copy of the extract from the commercial register or certificate of incorporation of the licensee duly
- legalized by the Egyptian Consulate. Recordal of the registered user or license agreement document after registration certificate is issued.
Change of Name or Address
- Power of attorney dulylegalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certificate of change of name duly legalized by the Egyptian Consulate.
- Certified copy of the certificate of change of address
Domain Name
- DOMAIN name ending with (.com.eg) -
- Certificate of incorporation in Egypt.
- Tax Card
- Trademark registration certificate (registered at least 5 years ago)
